The Vikings announced Tuesday they have officially waived Wentworth, who had not played in a game since the 2014 season. In an interview with the Pioneer Press’ Chris Tomasson last May, Wentworth said his NFL career was over at that point due to medical issues.

The Vikings signed Wentworth in 2014 as an undrafted free agent. The Fresno State alum played in seven games for Minnesota during the 2014 season and seemed to be a solid add for the team.

Last spring, Wentworth was conducting offseason workouts and looking forward to a second season with the Vikings.
