Twins move struggling prospect Alex Meyer to bullpen

CHICAGO -- Alex Meyer is moving to the bullpen.

With the promotion of fellow right-hander Tyler Duffey to Triple-A Rochester, the erratic Meyer will move into a relief role until further notice.

Other than the All-Star Futures Game last summer at Target Field, where Meyer threw a scoreless fifth inning on just four pitches, Meyer's entire professional career (68 outings) has been spent as a starter.

Meyer, 25, is 2-3 with a 7.09 earned-run average through eight starts this season with the Red Wings. In 39 1/3 innings, he has allowed 51 hits and 24 walks while striking out 41.
