Mariners' Taijuan Walker dominates Twins in complete-game one-hitter

Good thing Miguel Sano had faced Taijuan Walker twice before as they were coming up through the minor leagues.

If not for that mild familiarity with an equally ballyhooed prospect, Walker might have thrown a no-hitter at the overmatched Twins in a 6-1 win Friday night at Target Field.

As it was, Sano's two-out homer in the fourth was the only hit off Walker, a 22-year-old right-hander who tied a career high with 11 strikeouts and went the distance on just 101 pitches.

It was the first complete-game one-hitter against the Twins since Anibal Sanchez took a no-hitter into the ninth on May 24, 2013, in Detroit.
