In the midst of another very busy sports weekend, it was announced Sunday afternoon that the legendary Sid Hartman, a Minneapolis sports columnist dating back to 1944, had passed away at the age of 100.
Anyone who followed Minnesota sports throughout the years knew who Sid Hartman was — he had produced 21,235 bylines in his career, including a piece on the Minnesota Vikings that was published the day of his death. Despite it being a “football Sunday,” Sid Hartman trended on Twitter throughout the day as media members and former athletes from every corner of the country tweeted out their condolences to the Hartman family and shared their own personal story about interacting with Sid:
