Minnesota Hockey: Tyler Sheehy Named Captain for 2017-18 Season

The Gopher Hockey Team announced Monday afternoon that All-American Tyler Sheehy will wear the C as the Gopher captain for the 2017-18 season. He will be joined by alternate captains Ryan Lindgren, Mike Szmatula, and Leon Bristedt who will all wear the A on their sweaters.

Sheehy was named the 36th First Team All-American to play for the Gophers after a 2016-17 season that saw him finish 8th in the nation in scoring with 53 points. He was named the Big Ten Player of the Year for his efforts. There were some rumors that with Sheehy’s great season he might look to sign a NHL Free Agent deal while the market was high on him, but this announcement puts those rumors to bed.
