Gophers football report: Freshman center Tyler Moore off to solid start

Tyler Moore

On the first play of Tyler Moore's collegiate career, the Gophers freshman center put Purdue defensive tackle Ryan Watson on his back.

Moore removed his redshirt and started in place of Brian Bobek in the 41-13 win over the Boilermakers on Saturday.

With Bobek questionable again because of an unspecified injury, Moore likely will get his second consecutive start Saturday against Nebraska.

Moore, a 6-foot-4, 311-pound product of Galena Park, Texas, is known for his mean streak.

"His personality sometimes get the best of him in some aspects, but you would rather have to tell him 'whoa' than 'giddy-up and go,' as coach (Dan) O'Brien would say," Gophers coach Jerry Kill said.
