Gophers post big APR gains in football, basketball

The Gophers had eight programs post perfect multiyear Academic Progress Rate scores, including men's and women's basketball, according to the NCAA's latest report released Wednesday.

The multiyear APR scores are based on data from the 2010-14 school years. The most recent single-year score is from 2013-14.

The University of Minnesota men's basketball team's multiyear score jumped from 981 in 2011-12 to 1,000 in both former coach Tubby Smith's last season in 2012-13 and Richard Pitino's first season last year.

The basketball program's single-year APR score went from 960 in 2012-13 to 985 in 2013-14.

In football, Gophers coach Jerry Kill had his team post an all-time high multiyear score of 975, compared to 962 in last year's report.
