With the Dodgers reportedly acquiring Chase Utley from the Phillies Wednesday, it appears a ripe time to ponder whether the Brewers will make any deals before the waiver-trade deadline at the end of August.
At the beginning of the month, starter-turned-bullpen-arm Kyle Lohse looked like the most suitable candidate to be traded before September 1, although his terrible performances as a starter this year drowned the likelihood. Lohse, of course, remains on the roster but one has to wonder what purpose he serves for Milwaukee at this point.
Lohse hasn’t been awful out of the Brewers bullpen.
