Strikeout mark eludes Brewers' Tyler Thornburg

Atlanta — Does Tyler Thornburg consider himself to be a strikeout pitcher?

"No, not really," he said. "I try to pitch a lot more to contact in the big leagues. I'm never really trying to strike guys out unless it's a situation where there's a man on third with less than two outs.

"When you start chasing strikeouts you get in trouble."

Be that as it may, the right-hander earned himself a spot in Brewers annals thanks to his ability to make hitters swing and miss. With at least one strikeout in his first 19 appearances this season, he tied Chris Bosio (April 9-June 7, 1987) for the second-longest streak by a Brewers reliever.
