Middlesbrough to choose between Garry Monk and Nigel Pearson as new manager, with current interim boss Steve Agnew ruled out of the running

Middlesbrough owner Steve Gibson is set to choose between Garry Monk and Nigel Pearson as the club’s next manager.

Sportsmail revealed on May 18 that the pair were the frontrunners for the position, which is currently occupied by Steve Agnew.

He, too, was spoken to by Gibson with a view to remaining in charge, but the chairman will now make an external appointment.
