Central Magnet baseball's postseason run ends

SMYRNA -- Central's Magnet's baseball team was eliminated from the Class AA baseball team at Spring Fling with losses to Covington (5-3) and CPA (7-1) on Wednesday night.

The Tigers, who beat Pigeon Forge 1-0 in the tournament opener, finished another outstanding season that included a fifth straight state appearance with a 31-11 recover.

Covington pitcher Austin Baskin got the start for the Chargers and had six strikeouts in six innings before Ty Warmath came into relieve him in the seventh inning.

The Chargers got the first run of the game in the top of the third as left fielder Kyle Ginn got the inning started with a hit to center field.
