Dawn Barger was named Kris Hooper's successor as Stewarts Creek's boys' basketball coach on Monday as announced by Principal Dr. Clark Harrell.
Barger has coached boys and girls basketball for the past 14 years and led Lake County to the Class A state championship in 2001.
She becomes the first female coach in Rutherford County to be the head coach of a boys team.
"I would like to thank Dr. Clark Harrell for providing me the opportunity to build a program for which the school and community can be proud," Barger said.
