U-M kicker turned down scholarships, then earned one

He started out playing another sport. He turned down football scholarships to other schools. He walked on at Michigan and thought he would start as a punter this season.

And now?

Kenny Allen has become the Wolverines' placekicker and earned a scholarship.

"To be able to go from where his mind-set wasn't kicking at all to being the predominant field-goal kicker and doing really well at it," said teammate Blake O'Neill, "is fantastic.
