Michigan’s kickoff and punt return duties are wide open.
NFL-bound Jabrill Peppers handled the punt return duties each of the past two years, as one of the nation’s best -- fifth nationally last season -- and some of the kick returns, with departed Jehu Chesson and Jourdan Lewis also involved.
Now U-M is virtually starting over.
Special teams coordinator Chris Partridge said he’s “got about 15 guys” but didn’t want to give any names.
That’s a large number to whittle down but there may be a hint from last season.
