Report: President Obama turns down offer to be honorary Michigan captain

Former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama have apparently turned down an offer to serve as honorary captains for the Michigan football team.

In a recent interview with WXYZ-TV's Brad Galli, Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh said 44th president of the United States and his wife respectfully declined his invitation.

"(They) were both as gracious as they could be," Harbaugh told Galli in a video interview released on Monday. "They worked very hard to come. They're not going to be able to unfortunately make this year."

Key word there: this year. Harbaugh remains optimistic the Obamas, whom he met during a trip to Washington, D.
