In a statement released by the school Wednesday morning, Michigan basketball head coach John Beilein announced that sophomore guard Aubrey Dawkins has been granted his release from the program.
According to the release, Dawkins intends to transfer to Central Florida, where his father, Johnny Dawkins, is now the head coach.
Thankfully, Beilein is able to have a good perspective on the situation, since he also was able to coach his son at West Virginia.
“While we certainly did not wish for this to happen, it is quite understandable,” said Beilein. “I was able to coach my son and see him grow as a person and player and it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
