Five players that could and need to take the next step

It’s the nature of college football that every team has its own unique qualities from one year to the next. As players graduate and move on, others step up to take their place. Those new contributions can come from breakout players, but often they’re just veterans that elevate their game to another level. We take a look at five such experienced players who could step up, and who Michigan needs greater contributions from this fall.

It might not be immediately obvious why we’re mentioning Jake Butt here, but he’s a player with the potential to be an All-Big Ten first teamer who has yet to even earn honorable mention.
