2017 sneak peek: Wilton Speight will be the QB to beat, but Michigan will embrace competition

Note: This is part of a series looking at Michigan's expected position groups in 2017.

ANN ARBOR -- Wilton Speight spent eight months preparing for the fight of his life a year ago.

From January to August, the once forgotten Michigan quarterback did everything he could to gain an edge on his primary competitor, John O'Korn. Both quarterbacks challenged each other in the film room, in voluntary practice sessions, in conditioning drills.

Speight would secretly plan passing sessions with Michigan's wide receivers, instructing them not to tell O'Korn about the workout. O'Korn would do the same.
