Nation's #1 Running Back Recruit, Kareem Walker, Commits To Michigan - Full Inside Story On His Recruitment

The No. 1 rated high school running back in America has committed to the Michigan Wolverines. Kareem Walker joined coach Jim Harbaugh to become a part of the very highly-rated 2016 Michigan football recruiting class.

Walker committed to Ohio State during halftime of January's National Championship game against Oregon and de-committed from the Buckeyes on November 3rd after several weeks of speculation that he was interested in other schools.

On October 14th, Chat Sports exclusively reported on Walker's intent to attend Michigan following a series of conversations with a member of the Michigan football staff. When Walker visited Michigan October 9-11, he left giving the Michigan football staff a promise that he would be a part of their 2016 class. Early indications to Michigan were that he was planning on returning the following week to visit a second time (during the epic Michigan State game) to commit to the Wolverines.

When Chat Sports broke this story, Walker's coaches became very apprehensive of a quick commitment to Michigan for fear of backlash from Ohio State fans when Walker's team, De Paul Catholic (NJ), visited Cincinnati, Ohio for a game on October 23rd.

Following advice, Walker pushed back an official de-commitment from Ohio State until after his trip to Ohio.

Walker is the consensus No. 1 running back in the 2016 recruiting class, and is the top rated player currently committed to Michigan. Scout.com ranks him a 5-star player and the No. 27 player in the 2016 recruiting class.
