Seidel: How MSU draws strength from man with terminal cancer

Shilique Calhoun lined up at the right side of the Michigan State defense.

He burst up field, ducked under the left tackle and sacked Western Michigan quarterback Zach Terrell. Calhoun lifted up his right arm and looked at a green bracelet, the one that Ryan Smigiel gave him. It says "Fight with Smeegz" on one side and "Philippians 4:13" on the other. "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me."

Calhoun held up his hand and tapped the bracelet several times, walking back to his spot on defense. Smigiel was stunned and thrilled.
