P.J. Fleck named AFCA regional coach of year, in running for national honor

The wins and milestones keep piling up for P.J. Fleck and his Western Michigan football team, and so do the accolades.

Fleck has been named the American Football Coaches Association FBS Region 3 Coach of the Year, according to a WMU Athletics release. As a result, the 36-year-old is a finalist for the AFCA National Coach of the Year honor.

Earlier Tuesday, Fleck was named a finalist for the Football Writers Association of America's Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Award.

Fleck is in the national spotlight after guiding Western Michigan to a 13-0 season and Mid-American Conference championship and Cotton Bowl appearance

In his fourth year at the helm, Fleck has led WMU to its first-ever 13-0 record and a berth in the Cotton Bowl.
