Michigan State football CB Shakur Brown nabs All-America honors

In a season that wasn’t often pretty for Michigan State football, the yearly awards reveal provided one bright spot: Cornerback Shakur Brown was named a second-team All-American by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.

Brown had five interceptions in seven games for the Spartans this season, including two each in back-to-back games against Indiana and Northwestern in November. The redshirt junior tied for third nationally in interceptions. He also had 25 tackles, good for a tie for eighth on the MSU roster, and tied for the team lead in passes defended, with four.

Thursday’s honor wasn’t Brown’s first of the offseason; the Georgia native was selected to the All-Big Ten first team by the conference’s coaches and to the second team by the media last month.
