Michigan State defense's confidence 'through the roof' after derailing high-scoring Purdue

EAST LANSING - A lot of yards - more than 500 per game this season.

An efficient quarterback in David Blough and a game-breaking freshman wide receiver in Rondale Moore.

Purdue's high-powered offense spearheaded a four-game winning streak and made the Boilermakers one of the hottest teams in the nation. For all the gaudy numbers and impressive performances lately, Michigan State's defense put the Boilermakers on ice Saturday as the Spartans won 23-13 in East Lansing.

"I'm real proud of them, there's no doubt about it," Michigan State defensive coordinator Mike Tressel said.
