Dominique Long got down quick in coverage and tackled the Oregon return man at the 11-yard line after he bobbled the ball. A short pass and run for no-gain led to a downfield pass from Justin Herbert, but Khari Willis and David Dowell were there in double-coverage to make a play.

The Spartans received to begin the second half and began at their own 20. LJ Scott picked up eight yards on two rushes, setting up a third-and-short. Brian Lewerke then rushed for 17 yards and a first down.
