How do MSU assistant coaches stack up in salary?

EAST LANSING -- Michigan State ranks 24th nationally in compensation for its assistant football coaches, according to a USA TODAY Sports report that compared data from 106 Football Bowl Subdivision schools.

The Spartans’ total pay of $3,445,098 ranks fifth among the 12 Big Ten schools that reported their assistants’ salaries. Penn State did not provide data due to state privacy laws, and Northwestern, as a private institution, did not have to give its totals.

Mark Dantonio’s staff does not have one of the 128 highest-paid assistants in the sport. Co-offensive coordinator Dave Warner is MSU’s highest-paid, at $449,184.
