Michigan State Football Recruiting Roundup For July 9th

We're officially in the dogs days of summer, which means recruiting season is heating up for Michigan State Spartans head coach Mark Dantonio and his coaching staff. With that being said, here's our Michigan State Football Recruiting Roundup For July 8th.

3-Star Tight End "Very Interested" In MSU

One of Michigan State's last priorities for the 2016 recruiting period is fleshing out their tight end depth, and 3-star Springfield (IL) standout Albert Okwuegbunam may be just the ticket after receiving an offer from the program in June.

"I felt extremely blessed," Okwuegbunam said of the offer, via 247Sports. "Excited to evaluate them as a potential school for me to attend. I'm very interested in Michigan State for the immense success their program has had both on and of the field, as well as their new renovations."

Listed as the #25 tight end in the nation by 247Sports, Okwuegbunam lists Iowa, Iowa State, Missouri, Indiana, Minnesota and Syracuse as fellow contenders for his pledge.

Top 2017 Target Shines At "The Opening"

2017 Detroit (Mich.) WR/ATH Donovan Peoples-Jones took home the crown of rating champion for "The Opening" in Eugene, Oregon this past week, leading all athletes at the invite-only showcase with a score of 149.49.

"It feels great," Peoples-Jones said. "There were 166 athletes out here, the top people in the nation and to be crowned champion I'm real blessed."

Ranked as the #3 wide receiver in his class by 247Sports, Peoples-Jones holds offers from a who's who list of top programs -- including the aforementioned MSU, Alabama, Michigan, Penn State, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Stanford.
