Miami Marlins Morning Catch: Gordon notches 45 steals

Good morning, Marlin Maniac readers and welcome to Morning Catch, the daily morning news and notes column from MarlinManiac.com about your Miami Marlins.

The Marlins’ Dee Gordon has posted impressive numbers of late, both at the plate and on the base paths. Coming into yesterday, Gordon slashed .387/.441/.548 in his last 15 games.

The 27-year-old second baseman singled twice last night, and took advantage of his presence on the bases, swiping four bags in Miami’s 5-2 victory over Pittsburgh.

The fourth stolen base came on a fastball in which Pirates catcher Fransisco Cervelli didn’t even bother tossing the ball down to third, something Gordon has seen throughout his career.
