Miami Hurricanes coach Mario Cristobal has known defensive lineman Jayden Wayne for years. He first noticed the standout high school prospect at a camp in 2018 when Wayne was just starting high school.
Cristobal, then the head coach at Oregon, was quick to offer Wayne, a Tacoma, Washington, native, a chance to play at the Pacific Northwest’s premier program. But Cristobal eventually left Oregon to come home to Miami.
A little more than a year later, Wayne is coming to South Florida, too, and now he’s one of the nation’s top high school defensive linemen.
