‘Unselfish’ Hurricanes riding top offense to nine straight victories

The Miami Hurricanes have scored 77.9 points per game through 14 contests this season, ranking 67th in the nation.

But Miami’s offense has so far proved to be one of the nation’s most efficient, according to one advanced statistic. The advanced analytics site Kenpom.com ranks the Hurricanes 12th in offensive efficiency, and Miami’s quality offense has led them to a 13-1 record and the No. 12 spot in the Associated Press poll.

“When you have four players that are also very efficient at scoring the ball and then you add someone like a Bensley Joseph, a Wooga Poplar, an Anthony Walker — those guys can also score — you have a well-balanced attack, and they’re willing to share the ball with each other,” UM coach Jim Larrañaga said.
