Miami Hurricanes redshirt freshman Nigel Bethel was no better than the fourth cornerback on the roster. Bethel was stuck behind returning junior starter Trajan Bandy and sophomores D.J. Ivey and Al Blades jr. Bethel was battling with freshman Te’Cory Couch and Christian Williams to be the fourth CB on the roster.
Bethel received his only playing time last season against Savannah State. He recorded one tackle and one pass break up in the Hurricanes 77-0 victory. The former Miami Northwestern star was a three-star signee in the class of 2018. Bethel did not have a national rank, was the 113th ranked CB and 201st ranked player in Florida.
