Jeff James, nephew of Miami legend Edgerrin James, signs with UM

Olympia safety Jeff James may not be the one of the more higher-rated prospects in Miami’s recruiting class – but his uncle was adamant that that not worry him.

And his uncle – Edgerrin James – knows plenty about football.

On Wednesday morning, Jeff James – rated a three-star prospect by ESPN after playing just one season of varsity football – signed with Miami, the school at where his uncle once starred.

He’s one of three Hurricane signees with family ties to the program, joining tight end Michael Irvin II, the son of Michael Irvin, and Patrick Bethel, the son of former Hurricanes tight end Randy Bethel.
