It didn’t even make it out of September, actually, the too-early funeral decorated with Virginia players and coaches cavorting on the field, rolling in celebration, after Miami’s night-winning, era-escaping field goal doinked off the goal post on the final play.

Unlucky? More likely this 30-28 loss to Virginia was as former Miami tackle Joaquin Gonzalez tweeted: “Bad things happen to bad teams?”

Let’s not pretend there’s no writing on the tombstone now. You can’t look at the floor and not make eye contact with the inevitable the rest of the way after a bad loss like this.
