Hurricanes’ Tyler Van Dyke named ACC Rookie of the Year

Van Dyke, who also won the ACC Offensive Rookie of the Year honor, became the third Hurricanes player to win both accolades, joining running back Duke Johnson (2012) and quarterback Brad Kaaya (2014).

Forced into the starting lineup due to a season-ending knee injury to D’Eriq King, Van Dyke competed in 10 games, completing 202 of his 324 passes for 2,931 yards, 25 touchdowns and six interceptions. Van Dyke was voted the ACC Rookie of the Week five of the final six weeks of the regular season.

Van Dyke, a Glastonbury, Conn. native, passed for more than 300 yards and at least three touchdowns in the final six weeks of the season.
