Miami Head Coach Mark Richt and his Quarterback coach son Jon assigned Rosier as a mentor to incoming freshman Cade Weldon (who’s father Casey Mark Richt coached at Florida State) and Sheriffs to Perry as mentors.
Rosier and Sheriffs emerged from spring football as the co-leaders in the battle to become the starter in the Hurricanes opener September 2 against Bethune-Cookman. Jack Allison transferred following spring practice.
Rosier and Sheriffs came to Miami under former Head Coach Al Golden. Rosier only threw four passes in 2016. He came on in relief of Kaaya in Miami’s embarrassing 58-0 loss to Clemson in 2015.
