The losses make the Hurricanes path in the ACC Tournament muchmore difficult. Instead of playing a team in the second round seeded ten through 15 that would be playing its second game in 24 hours, Miami now gets eighth seeded Syracuse in the second round. Both the Hurricanes and Orange will receive first round byes.
Miami and Syracuse will be the only teams with first round byes playing on Wednesday against an opponent that did not play in the first round. Wednesday’s game will be the first meeting between Miami and Syracuse in the ACC Tournament.
This will only be the second ever meeting between the teams in March.
