Amar'e Stoudemire announces his retirement after 14 NBA seasons

Amar'e Stoudemire is retiring after 14 seasons in the NBA and signed a contract with the New York Knicks in order to retire as a member of the team.

Stoudemire played well in spurts both off the bench and as a starter in his lone season with the Miami Heat as his role and minutes fluctuated. Though he wasn't utilized during the early part of the season, he began carving out a place in the rotation gradually and eventually started 36 games, his most since the 2011-12 season in New York when injuries started to take a major toll on his health.
