3 Biggest Free Agent Signings In Miami Heat History

The Miami Heat are one of the premier free agent destinations in the NBA, and have signed their fair share of great players. Here are the three biggest free agents they've signed in franchise history:

3) Eddie Jones

Jones signed with the Heat in 2000, just as the club was starting the worst stretch in franchise history, but was undoutbedly the best player on the team during that time frame. He averaged over 17.3 points per game in four of his five full seasons with the Heat, but left the year before Miami won the title in 2006. He returned the following season, but in a much diminished role.

2) Chris Bosh

The signing of Bosh kicked off the "Big 3" era in Miami, but unlike the player at the bottom of the list, he has stuck around. Bosh sacrificed his stats in his first four years in Miami, but still played a major role in bringing two championships to South Beach. He was beginning to emerge as the Heat's most consistent player in 2014-15 before a blood clot sidelined him for the rest of season, but even if he never returns to his old 20-&-10 form, he has already cemented a place on this list.

1) LeBron James

Stealing LeBron James away from the Cleveland Cavaliers was the biggest free agency surprise in NBA history, and LeBron didn't disappoint in South Beach. In his four seasons in Miami, James won two MVP awards while leading the Heat to four straight NBA Finals appearances and two championships. Heat fans have soured on James since he returned to Cleveland, but teams rarely get to sign the best player in the sport in free agency.
