Today is January 14, 2018 and it marks the anniversary of that achievement. A birthday of sorts as it still stands challenged but never met. Through the years other teams have come close but all of have ultimately failed.
Over the decades since 1972 the NFL has watched as teams chase that delusive perfect season. The media mock the Dolphins for the champagne celebration that was actually born by the media and not the players. Though the Dolphins are the only team to complete a perfect season they are still denied the honor of being called the best team in the history of the NFL.
