The Miami Dolphins signed Mike Wallace two season ago to be their primary receiver and be a team leader, but that was upended when Wallace benched himself during Miami's Week 17 loss to the New York Jets.
Now, the Dolphins aren't committed to continue paying the highest-paid player on their roster. Dolphins general manager Dennis Hickey dodged the question when asked about Wallace's future on Wednesday:
"We're looking at all things with our players," Hickey said.
He was also asked if Wallace's behavior in Week 17 would a factor in the team's decision to keep him:
"We look at all those things with our players," Hickey said. "Again, it was a disappointing finish, there's no sugarcoating that."
Wallace not getting support from ownership or the general manager, meaning his days in Miami are likely numbered.
The Dolphins would still have to pay $3 million guaranteed money just to make Wallace go away, but cutting him would create $6.9 million in cap space.
