Dion Jordan's weight gain raises eyebrows in today's Dolphins news update

Dolphins news outlets have been raising their eyebrows over second-year pro Dion Jordan, who has gained seventeen pounds since he weighed in at 248 pounds at last year's NFL Scouting Combine.

According to Marc Sessler of NFL.com, "Jordan took the field Tuesday at a beefy 265 and looking "like he took an air pump to his arms and shoulders," per Armando Salguero of The Miami Herald."

This comes on the heels of the Miami Dolphins' insistence that they are going to utilize Jordan as a defensive end in base 4-3 defensive sets. Jordan had an "on-again, off-again" rookie season in 2013, and coach Joe Philbin thinks that moving him to a position he is not familiar with might be the spark he needs to reach dominant form.

"I was definitely too light to go out there against some of those offensive tackles," Jordan said Tuesday of his first year in the NFL. "This year I had the opportunity to have an offseason where I can take care of my body. I'm trying to move forward and continue to try to better myself in a few areas."

Philbin had originally thought about switching Jordan to outside linebacker, but decided that Jordan's value lies in pushing forward toward the quarterback - not back into pass coverage.
