It’s a common theme every year for the Memphis Grizzlies: they have a young player with immense potential but don’t get him off this bench. This year’s guy was big man Deyonta Davis.
Over the past seven years, it’s been pretty hard for a young big man to move up the rotation. All-NBA talent Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph have been mainstays in the starting lineup, albeit this year’s decision to move the latter to the bench. In addition, veterans like Darrell Arthur, Marreese Speights, JaMychal Green and Kosta Koufos have occupied the rest of the minutes.
Now, for the first time in God knows how long, the Memphis Grizzlies finally have a young player that has the potential to be very good.
