Tons of Maryland football recruits perform at Nike's The Opening Washington regional

I spent Sunday at Centreville High School in Clifton, Va. taking in Nike's The Opening regional recruiting camp for Washington, D.C. "The Opening" is an annual camp for the country's best football recruits, held during the summer months in Oregon and sponsored by the apparel company. There's a whole series of regional camps leading up to The Opening, and the best players from those camps get invitations to the national shindig in Oregon.

So it was on Sunday, with a few dozen Maryland football recruits, including four verbal commits, taking the field in Virginia. The hope is to raise their national profile a bit and get better through competition, even though it's all just drills.
