Maryland Football: Five takeaways from nonconference play

The Maryland football team is off to a 3-0 start this season.

That was after the Terrapins only just three games all of last season under Randy Edsall and Mike Locksley. Needless to say, fans were ready for the D.J. Durkin era to begin as soon as the former Michigan defensive coordinator was introduced as the new coach.

Durkin brought an extremely experienced staff to College Park that include former head coaches such as Pete Lembo and Mike London. He had also brought in former Syracuse head coach Scott Shafer as the defensive coordinator, but Shafer had to step down after a few short months on the job.
