Maryland basketball faces 'big' challenge from Boilermakers' massive frontcourt

For the first time since Maryland faced North Carolina early in the season, the Terps will be the smaller team when they play Purdue on Saturday at Xfinity Center.

The No. 18 Boilermakers boast what is one of the biggest – and bulkiest – frontcourts in the country.

Senior center A.J. Hammons, the Big Ten’s second-leading shot blocker (2.5 per game) and a finalist for the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award, is 7 feet and 250 pounds.

Freshman power forward Caleb Swanigan, the Big Ten’s leading rebounder at 9.0 per game, is 6-9 and has lost 25 pounds to get down to 250.
