Maryland football has suffered its third decommitment from its 2017 recruiting class, as two-star kicker Jonathan Doerer has flipped to Notre Dame.
Doerer committed to Maryland as a walk-on in late July after visiting for a camp. 247Sports ranks the North Carolina recruit as the No. 17 kicker in the class, but Kohlskicking has him as the fifth-best kicker.
Doerer hit an 86 yard 4.4 KO in May of 2016 at our Southern Showcase. He may have had a 10 mph tailwind at most. His FG consistency has improved since the last time we saw him.
