Charlotte kicker Jonathan Doerer has committed to play football at Maryland, he announced Friday afternoon on Twitter.
Adam Greene and Daniel Sutton are the only kickers on Maryland’s roster, and both are listed as juniors on Maryland’s website, although Sutton has yet to play in college after spending one year on the sidelines at Towson before sitting out last season with Maryland, per NCAA transfer rules. (Nicolas Pritchard is listed as a punter/placekicker, but all his action last year came as a punter.)
No matter their eligibility, Doerer should be able to compete for playing time at least by the time he is a sophomore, if not sooner.
