Marshall offense much better on first downs against Florida Atlantic

HUNTINGTON — Looking at Marshall’s recent results, you will see the offense last week scored just six more points in victory than it did the week earlier in defeat.

Yes, the Thundering Herd must turn up the score from 27 if it is to contend in the East Division of Conference USA.

But a closer look drops a hint that the Herd might just do that, starting with its game Saturday against Charlotte. Kickoff is at 5:30 p.m. at Joan C. Edwards Stadium, with beIN Sports televising.

The Herd gained 436 total yards and made 25 first downs last week in its 27-21 win over Florida Atlantic, a major improvement over the 271 yards and 16 first downs in a 38-21 loss to North Texas a week earlier.
