STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — The Marshall women’s basketball team fought all the way, but in the end Penn State held on as the Herd falls 82-80. Redshirt junior Taylor Porter scored a career-high 24 points to lead Marshall in scoring with a 6-of-12 shooting day including 4-of-9 from three and a perfect 8-of-8 at free throw line.
The Herd (5-2) was looking for its second win on the road in the Big Ten in the game at Penn State (6-2). Marshall opened the season by winning at Illinois by two points, and the Herd fought all the way to the end including redshirt junior McKenzie Akers hitting a three at the buzzer from nearly half-court to set the final score.
