Golden Eagles fall 73-57 in Big East Tournament championship

NEW YORK — The dream could not be replicated.

Not completed. Not realized. Not fulfilled.

Marquette men’s basketball lit New York ablaze in blue and gold last year. Friday night, the Big Apple was red and blue — colored like Storrs.

The Golden Eagles hung around with the Huskies, but couldn’t last a full 40 minutes as No. 1 seed UConn stormed away in the second half to beat Marquette 73-57 in the Big East Tournament championship.

The game started offensively sloppy for both teams as it was only 4-4 after the first eight minutes.
