The breakdown of Jesse Lingard's loan move from Manchester United to Newcastle has left the England international angry and frustrated.
Newcastle's Saudi owners have baulked at a £12million survival bonus - payable to United if they stay in the Premier League - on top of a £2.5m loan fee and Lingard's £100,000-a-week wages.
United's demands would take the potential cost of the deal to £16.5m, the equivalent of £1m-a-week over the four-month loan.
Lingard is understood to be upset that United rejected offers from Tottenham and West Ham because they are seen as top-four rivals, and have then driven such a hard bargain with Newcastle.
